Sharon Toerek received her Juris Doctor degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of law in 1991, and was admitted to practice before the Ohio Supreme Court in November, 1991. She completed her undergraduate studies at Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1985.

Sharon was employed by the Cleveland law firm, Thompson, Hine and Flory, from 1985 to 1993, working with the firm’s commercial litigation, antitrust and regulatory and intellectual property attorneys. She also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Alvin Krenzler in the United States District Court in Cleveland. Sharon formed her own practice in August, 1993 in Cleveland, Ohio until merging it with that of attorney Rosemary A. Macedonio, to form Macedonio & Toerek, P.L.L. in February, 1997. The firm later merged with the law practice of Gregory Box, to form Macedonio, Toerek & Box, P.L.L. Upon the retirements of Macedonio and Box in 2004, Sharon formed Toerek Co., which focused on intellectual property law, advising clients on trademark, copyright, trade secret, non-competition, and other intellectual property issues.

Sharon’s civic affiliations include formerly serving as President of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Cleveland chapter. She also served as a director of NAWBO Cleveland, and chaired its Top 10 Women Business Owners of Northeast Ohio event for two years. Sharon is also a former Trustee of the Women’s City Club of Cleveland, and has chaired its Executive Womens’ Network and Nominating committees. Sharon has received the Rising Star Award and Networking Award from NAWBO and the New Member of the Year Award from the Women’s City Club. Sharon also served as Chair of the Intellectual Property section of the Cleveland Bar Association, and as a regular instructor at its annual Continuing Legal Education seminars for lawyers.

Currently, Sharon serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Cleveland Partnership's Council of Small Enterprises (COSE), on the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Advertising Association, and as Legal Advisor to Northeast Ohio Communications Affiliates (NOCA), an umbrella organization for Northeast Ohio's professional communications organizations. A volunteer attorney for the Volunteer Guardianship Program, Sharon has also served as Guardian Ad Litem for the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.

Sharon is a lifelong Cleveland resident. She lives in Sagamore Hills, Ohio with her husband, Ed Toerek.
